The reputation of Saint-Sardos wines dates back to the 13th century. The Abbey of Grand Selve, then at the height of its influence, provided its Bordeaux cellars in barrels, on gabarres which descended the Garonne. Since 1956, the Winery has rigorously selected and vinified the harvest of its winegrowers in a traditional way, who bring all their know-how to the development of their vines. The wines of the Cave des Vignerons de Saint-Sardos are produced on a small Gascon terroir in the heart of Lomagne, in a mild and temperate micro-climate, and on clay-siliceous and gravelly soils. The spicy nuances of Syrah combined with the roundness of Merlot and Cabernets which bring their “raspberry” aromas, harmoniously complement the rusticity and fruity “blackcurrant” of Tannat. The aging of our red wines develops a complex bouquet with spicy, licorice, truffle notes ... All of these natural factors give all their expression and originality to Saint-Sardos Wines.
